Physiopathology:
Influenza virus can attach to the throat cell surface through Glycoproteins (GPs) such as Hemagglutinin & Neuraminidase (H1N1, H6N9), but cannot enter into the cells without the help of some topically available proteolytic enzymes (proteases) which break the cell membrane. Once inside the cells, the virus multiplies, and millions of new virus particles are liberated on the throat surface. They attack new cells, weaken local defenses, facilitate secondary bacterial growth, and generate clinical signs of the flu. Liberation of inflammatory cytokines produces inflammation & pain. In the absence any topical anti-virals, only symptomatic treatments are currently used.
Ideal Treatment should:
Act instantly, topically, be non-irritant; stop virus growth; remove contaminants; keep the throat surface hydrated; minimize the need for antibiotics.

Topical anti-virals: None; Preventive drugs: None; Symptomatic: >100 (9/10 OTCs in pharmacies). Antibiotics have no effect on viruses.

Viral throat infection in children:
Virus surface glycoproteins (such as H1N1) and inflammatory cytokines are protein molecules. As multiple proteins are involved in a single infection, they cannot be blocked with a single chemical or biological molecule. This is the reason why all current treatments are mono-target & have poor efficacy.
The aim of VITROBIO’s research was to find a multi-target, fast-acting, throat-cleaning, topical & safe treatment which is adapted for children.

Product presentation: 20mL spray

Clinical Efficacy:
A comparative, randomized, double-blind, parallel group clinical trial study was conducted at Malons Multispeciality Hospital and ICU (Navi Mumbai/India) to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Vitrobio’s throat spray for kids versus 0.9% NaCl saline solution spray in the treatment of throat infections in children. Dates of the study: 18/09/2018-27/10/2018 (5 weeks). 30 patients aged 3-15 years old. Study number: VB-PHR/OBS/2018. The results of the study show that the test product strongly suppresses throat infection symptoms (difficulty swallowing, swollen throat, throat irritation, throat redness, whitish deposit on throat). No adverse side effects were reported.
